New Book Shows How to Create a Successful Professional Service Firm

In The Architecture of Value: Building Your Professional Practice, industry expert, Craig Park, delivers an important business guide on how to build and grow a professional service firm based on leadership, authenticity, and collaboration.

Omaha, Neb., November 8, 2011 — From architects, engineers, and contractors, to lawyers, consultants, and accountants, few professional service firms develop the necessary strategies to weather uncertain economies, let alone create a highly successful and enduring legacy. By basing their business practice on the fundamentals of expertise, excellence, and experience, professional service firms can grow and profit, even in times of political, social, and market upheaval, according to author Craig Park in his new book, The Architecture of Value: Building Your Professional Practice (AquilanPress: 2011; ISBN 0615513344).

Dan Burrus, author of New York Times best seller Flash Foresight, said “The Architecture of Value contains the knowledge you need to take your business to the next level. I highly recommend it.” In The Architecture of Value, readers will learn how to develop sound strategy, craft the marketing message, and ultimately deliver high-value service. Park includes many anecdotes and practical examples drawn from his 30+ years of experience working in professional services.

According to Jerry Yudelson, PE, LEED® Fellow, author of Marketing Green Building Services, “Park’s book is an amazing tour de force that shows you definitively how to create, sell, and deliver the highest-quality, most profitable professional services. If you master the abundance of lessons he freely offers, your business, professional, and personal life would be far more successful.”

"The foundation of an enduring professional practice parallels the practice of architecture—where collaborative teams conceive, design, and document a solution to a client’s challenge, and coordinate in the execution of that solution to a positive outcome,” said Park. “While I practice in the building technology industry, I believe the process for creating a sustainable professional service firm is common to all service-oriented businesses.”

Park uses real-life workplace stories and best practices from successful leaders to show how to deliver exceptional service, and offers new methods for optimizing and measuring these concepts. "Many have called today’s socio-political-economic reality ‘the new normal.’ I believe we are at the beginning of a new cycle—one that will bring about a sea change in professional service practices,” Park said. “The rise of real-time, on-line, multi-dimensional collaboration and social media-driven information exchange will forever change how professional service firms provide value to their clients, regardless of market or area of expertise.”

The Architecture of Value: Building Your Professional Practice is available for sale online at Park’s website, the SMPS’ Bookstore, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other channels.
